The company Water Partners S.r.l. is requesting funding of €100,000 (with a maximum of €300,000) for the implementation of a solar-powered water desalination project, with technology and maintenance provided by Genius Watter, in Pingwe on the island of Zanzibar.
Water Partners is investing in an innovative and sustainable project aimed at ensuring a reliable and constant supply of high-quality clean water to a collection of hotels and resorts in Zanzibar, with significant economic, environmental, and social benefits.
To address the growing difficulties related to irregular and expensive water supply of poor quality due to the presence of scaling salts in the water, Water Partners has chosen to intervene and provide an alternative of sustainable and reliable water supply.
Water Partners is implementing a reverse osmosis desalination system for brackish groundwater, powered during the day by a 45kWp photovoltaic plant, without batteries and connected to the electrical grid, which will provide over 400,000 liters of clean and safe water every day.
The desalinated clean water will be distributed through pipelines to the hotels near the plant site and through tankers to around fifteen hotels within a few kilometers radius.
Rendering of the plant
The solar water factory will be monitored and remotely managed in real time, a fundamental action to quickly resolve any issues even from a distance, and maintained by local technical staff to ensure its long-term functionality.
Finally, it is planned that 5,000 liters of water pumped from the plant's wells will be donated to the local farming community every day, allowing them to access this resource consistently and easily.
From a remuneration point of view, the project is repaid through the sale of water to multiple accommodation and tourist facilities in the area. Water Partners S.r.l. will purchase the plant from Genius Watter, the EPC Company, and consequently, the proceeds generated from the water sales activity will go directly to Water Partners, which will be able to repay the crowdfunding financing. Genius Watter will handle all the engineering, construction, and installation phases, and subsequently, the entire management and maintenance of the solar water factory.
ENERSCORE+ & EASYSCORE EXPERT INTEGRATED
Ener2Crowd provides a first qualitative parameter called "EnerScore+" that is assigned to each individual investment proposal. This parameter defines a SCORING that objectively, comprehensively, and understandably summarizes all the data that characterize the project from a technical point of view, ranging from an ESG evaluation expressed in CLASSES, to a verification of the activated SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
A specific Financial Rating called "Easyscore Expert Integrated" is expressed, resulting from the credit analysis carried out by EasyFintech, which verifies the reliability and solidity of the creditworthiness of the Project Owner Company. EasyFintech S.r.l. is a company that operates as a dealer of commercial information with License art. 134 TULPS Prefettura di Milano prot. n. 14795/12B15E dated 31/01/2020.
In the case of the Project proposed by Water Partners S.r.l., the resulting EnerScore+ is 10.22, so an ENERSCORE+ BBB is assigned, while the Integrated Easyscore Expert is at level 5 - MODERATE SOLVENCY.
Qualitative Scoring - EnerScore+
Elements taken into consideration:
Integrated Score released on 12/03/2024 - confidential and not reproducible
Financial Scoring - Integrated Easyscore Expert
Elements examined for the calculation of the Integrated Easyscore Expert Report - (classes from 1 to 10 with a score of 0 - 100) prepared by EasyFintech S.r.l.:
NOTE: It is specified that these values represent only a reflection element that an investor can consider in the decision to participate in the financing.
In recent months, the global socio-economic context has led to a strong increase in inflation, that is, the prolonged increase in the average level of prices for goods and services. For this reason, the ECB predicts an increase in mortgage and financing rates with the aim of preserving the purchasing power of consumers.
INDEXING TO EURIRS AND EURIBOR INDICES
Unlike an initial phase where the effective interest was calculated based on a base rate, corrected through a Correction Factor (Fc), starting from 2024 a new method of defining the Interest Rate is introduced. In this specific case, similar to how Banks define the interest rate applied to loans, in this case, the interest rate is linked to the EURIRS index (in the case of fixed rate) and EURIBOR index (in the case of variable rate).
The installation of the solar-powered water purification and desalination system will be carried out in Pingwe, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

A young company with the experience of pioneers in the solar energy sector. An international team that brings together young professionals with experienced individuals, united by a strong passion for sustainability.
THE STORY
Vast experience in solar photovoltaic energy driven by a passion for sustainability. Since 1981, Water Partners founder Franco Traverso has been building the first solar photovoltaic systems and components worldwide.
In the four decades that followed, he developed international partnerships, projects, and solar panel production facilities, driven by his passion for solar energy. In 2018, he received the "Environmental Leadership Award" from ICCO North America and in 2021 the "Lifetime Achievement of the year" award from Afsia Solar Awards 2021 for his 40 years of experience in the solar industry and his significant long-term contribution to the development of the African solar industry.
An impact-driven company, with the goal of democratizing access to water.
In 2018, Dario Traverso, thanks to the knowledge acquired from his father and eager to create a sustainable company with a strong social impact, founded Genius Watter with Franco based in Italy.
Since 2018, several projects have been developed in Africa, providing clean and accessible water to private clients and communities, even in locations outside the power grid.
In 2023, Water Partners was established to financially support Genius Watter's sustainable initiative, giving investors the opportunity to invest in clean water supply projects, implemented with the patented Genius solar water technology, already tested in multiple international contexts.

Water Partners, through Genius Watter, provides a turnkey solution for pumping, desalinating, and distributing clean water from saline water sources (from hard and brackish water to seawater) anywhere, using solar energy. The solar-powered reverse osmosis desalination system without batteries is the core product of Genius Watter. Each system is designed and engineered according to the specific needs of the customer, to ensure maximum performance over time.
Here is a brief description of the process: photovoltaic solar panels convert solar energy into direct current electricity. This electrical energy is then used to power the entire water pumping, desalination, and distribution system. After being pumped, the incoming water is pre-treated through various types of filtration, which remove residues that could clog the osmosis membranes. Through the use of high-pressure pumps, the water is directed into the osmosis membranes that separate the salt and other impurities. Once out of the osmotic membranes, the water can be purified and remineralized. After the desalination and post-treatment process is completed, the clean water is stored in a tank, ready for subsequent consumption, or distributed through an automatic dispenser for on-demand water supply, via the building's water network or through drip irrigation in agricultural areas.
The use of photovoltaic energy in this process has several advantages: solar energy is a renewable and clean source, reducing the environmental impact of the desalination process. Locally produced energy reduces dependence on external power sources, making the system more reliable and sustainable. In the long run, solar energy can reduce operational and management costs, as solar energy is free after the initial installation of photovoltaic panels. This technology is widely applied in many parts of the world to address challenges related to access to safe drinking water and clean energy.
It is estimated that the 45 kWp photovoltaic system connected to the desalination plant allows a saving of 27 tons/year of CO2 equivalent, which is equivalent to:
Saving 27,000 kg of CO2 in the atmosphere every year
Planting 2,700 trees, enough to cover an area of 14 soccer fields
Avoiding the emissions of exhaust gases from 19 cars every year
These are the effects and benefits that can also be generated thanks to your contribution!
