The company Genius Watter S.r.l. is requesting a financing of €100,000 (with a maximum of €250,000) for the construction and installation of a desalination and water purification plant powered by photovoltaic solar energy, located at a well-known international hotel structure on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The plant is the result of an engineering technology designed, developed, and patented by Genius Watter, which allows for the production of high-quality water through the development of a desalination and water purification system powered by solar energy from renewable sources.

Interior of the plant
The high level of engineering of the systems developed by the Genius Group, as well as the choice to be present with its own structure in the countries where the plant installations are carried out, will allow for a qualified and punctual management and maintenance service of the plant, through the subsidiary Genius Watter Zanzibar Ltd. Additionally, with the use of remote supervision, predictive maintenance will also be possible in order to prevent excessive wear and tear of the components.
The lifespan of the plant is estimated to be thirty years.
To address the growing difficulties related to poor-quality and expensive water supply, especially in terms of maintenance of the water system due to the presence of scaling salts in the water supplied by tankers, the resort has decided to rely on a competent partner for its sustainable water supply needs.
Genius Watter will install a reverse osmosis desalination system for seawater, powered by a 60 kWp photovoltaic plant, without batteries and connected to the electrical grid, which will provide 140,000 liters of clean and safe water to the entire hotel for all uses, every day. The plant will be remotely monitored and managed in real-time, a fundamental action to quickly resolve any issues even from a distance.
It is planned that a portion of the water treated by the plant will be provided free of charge by the hotel to the neighboring village where the staff and their families reside, totaling 300-400 people, who currently only have poor-quality, salty, and dirty water available.
The plant will benefit from a multi-year management and maintenance service, carried out remotely and on-site by the company, through its local technical structure and hotel technicians who have been trained on the operation of the technology. The company strongly believes in the involvement of local communities and businesses for the success and long life of its projects.

The Project involves a total investment of € 460,000 in Capex, for which the proposing company has already advanced approximately 50% of the estimated total costs. Currently, the partially assembled container with the material has already been shipped to the final destination and is expected to arrive by the end of this month of October.
From an economic and financial point of view, the project is repaid through the sale of water to the Resort: the contract indeed provides for the purchase of a minimum quantity of water at a fixed price in US dollars, equivalent to 40,000 cubic meters per year, and linked to an inflation rate, always of the US market. The evaluations lead to an estimate of the Payback Time in about 5 years, with a Project IRR of 20%.
From a tax point of view, Tanzania, the country to which the island of Zanzibar belongs, has a double taxation agreement with Italy, thus avoiding the duplication of taxes in the repatriation of flows. From a civil-tax point of view, the plant will remain the property of a company of the Genius Group, entirely controlled by Genius Water Srl, which will charge the use of the plant itself, based on a ten-year lease agreement.
Ener2Crowd provides a standardized parameter called "EnerScore" that is assigned to every single investment proposal. This parameter defines a GLOBAL RATING that sums up objectively, in a complete and understandable way all the data that characterize the project.[...] (Sign up now to discover more).
In recent months, the global socio-economic context is leading to a sharp increase in inflation, i.e. the prolonged increase in the average level of prices of goods and services. For this reason, the ECB foresees an increase in rates on mortgages and loans with the aim of preserving the purchasing power of consumers.
In this situation, Ener2crowd has also chosen to insert the so-called "Correction factor" of the interest rate (Fc), with the aim of adjusting the interest rates (and therefore rates of return for investors), to the variability of the general mortgage situation.

Genius Watter provides a turnkey solution for pumping, desalinating, and distributing clean water from saline sources (from hard and brackish water to seawater) anywhere, using solar energy. The solar-powered reverse osmosis desalination system without batteries is Genius Watter's core product. Each system is designed and engineered according to the specific needs of the customer, to ensure maximum performance over time.
Here is a brief description of the process: photovoltaic solar panels convert solar energy into continuous electricity. This electrical energy is then used to power the entire water pumping, desalination, and distribution system. After being pumped, the incoming water is pre-treated through different types of filtering, which remove residues that could clog the osmosis membranes. Through the use of high-pressure pumps, the water is directed into the osmosis membranes that separate the salt and other impurities. Once out of the osmotic membranes, the water can be purified and remineralized. After the desalination and post-treatment process is completed, the clean water is stored in a tank, ready for subsequent consumption, or distributed through an automatic dispenser for on-demand water supply, via the building's water network or with drip irrigation in agricultural areas.
The use of photovoltaic energy in this process has several advantages: solar energy is a renewable and clean source, reducing the environmental impact of the desalination process. Locally produced energy reduces dependence on external power sources, making the system more reliable and sustainable. In the long run, solar energy can reduce operating and management costs, as solar energy is free after the initial installation of photovoltaic panels. This technology is widely applied in many parts of the world to address the challenges related to access to safe drinking water and clean energy.
It is estimated that the photovoltaic system will have a total annual production of 99.562 kWh and a daily production of purified water on site equal to 140.000 liters. The positive environmental impact of these two activities is estimated as follows:
Saving 56.812 kg of CO2 in the atmosphere every year
Planting 5.681 trees, enough to cover an area of 29 soccer fields
Avoiding the emissions of exhaust gases from 40 cars every year
These are the effects and benefits that can also be generated thanks to your contribution!
